MADRID, 11 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 15-year-old Palestinian teenager died on Friday after being shot by Israeli security forces during a protest in the West Bank city of Beita.
The incident occurred during a demonstration against the construction of an Israeli settlement near the city, according to information from the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Palestinian Crescent has indicated that Israeli forces have opened fire on the protesters, resulting in the death of the teenager, who has been identified as Mohamad Said Hamayel. In addition, several people have been injured.
The protest has been quelled by the use of tear gas by the Israeli Army. Hamayel is the third Palestinian from Beita to be killed by Israeli forces in less than a month.
Residents of the city have been demonstrating every Friday against what they consider an occupation of their territory by Israeli settlers, who are building settlements in the area.
