Approval for COVID-19 vaccine certificate from EU countries

Approval for COVID-19 vaccine certificate from EU countries

The European Council announced that member states have approved the regulation called “EU Digital COVID Certificate”. Accordingly, the EU vaccination certificate to be used for travel will officially enter into force on 1 July.

The vaccination certificate will be free, in paper or digital form.

In order to prevent discrimination, people who are not vaccinated can also have a certificate.

The vaccination certificate will include information showing whether the person has had the COVID-19 vaccine, if so, where and which vaccine, the document regarding the recovery and antibody level of those who have had the disease, and the Kovid-19 test result.

With the certificate, restrictions such as additional testing or quarantine will not be applied to people who have received approved COVID-19 vaccines in the EU and have been 2 weeks since the last dose.

In necessary cases, such as the protection of public health, countries may take additional measures.

The vaccination certificate will be valid in all EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

The certificate can be issued to EU citizens, their families regardless of nationality, as well as EU residents but non-EU citizens and visitors with the right to travel to other EU countries.

The EU has already approved vaccines produced by BioNTech-Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson.

The said regulation was also approved by the European Parliament (EP) within the week. After this stage, the regulation will enter into force after it is published in the EU Official Journal.
