Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also attacked Pakistan’s Home Minister Sheikh Rashid for dragging India’s name in the incident. It is noteworthy that on Friday, unidentified people kidnapped Silsila Alikhil, 26-year-old daughter of Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Najibullah Alikhil and held her hostage for several hours. Underlining that this is a matter related to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told a press conference, “This is a very shocking incident.”

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday termed Pakistan’s interior minister’s statement about the incident as an “unprofessional comment”. “The Ministry of External Affairs once again expresses its deep concern at the unprofessional statements made by the Home Minister of Pakistan in connection with the kidnapping of the daughter of our Ambassador in Islamabad,” it said.
